Neoclassicism, Romanticism, Realism, Impressionism/Post-Impressionism, early 20th-century avant-gardes, mid-century modernisms, and global contemporary practices (including photography, new media, installation, and postcolonial/global south voices). AP Later Europe/Americas + Global Contemporary emphasis; challenges Eurocentric narratives.
Goal
Trace major stylistic and conceptual shifts from the late 18th century to today; analyze how modern/contemporary works respond to industrialization, politics, identity, technology, and globalization; perform multi-method analysis of both canonical and underrepresented contemporary works.
