About
College undergrad survey-style path for learners with no prior art history. Builds core skills in formal/visual analysis (line, color, composition, etc.), iconography, and contextual reading; surveys major Western and global periods from ancient through modern/contemporary; and develops museum literacy for engaging collections and exhibitions.
Goal
Independently perform multi-method analyses (formal, iconographic, contextual) of unfamiliar artworks; accurately place representative works and styles from prehistory to the present in broad chronological, cultural, and geographic frameworks (Western and global); and demonstrate practical museum literacy including close looking, label reading, and critical reflection on display practices.
